In the wake of John Galliano's anti-semitic slurs, another of Kate Moss' long-time friends, celebrity hairstylist James Brown, finds himself at the centre of a racist rant. Brown has come forward and admitted that it was him who made the shameful remarks to TV presenter Ben Douglas at the British Academy Television Awards last week. In a statement released by Brown, he says:
"I'd like to make a public apology to Mr Douglas, to his friends and to BAFTA for my offensive and stupid comments. The simple truth is that I had drunk far too much on the evening and my behaviour was totally unacceptable. Everyone who knows me knows I am not racist in any way whatsoever, but this incident has shown me that my drinking is way out of control and I need to take urgent measures to deal with it."
Brown referred to Douglas as a "n****r" and called his female companion a "n****r's b****". Douglas went public with the comments but wouldn't name the person responsible, saying he did not wish to damage anyone's career, but simply wanted to put a stop to the use of the word, which the TV presenter said he has witnessed "creeping into slang."
