Backstage at Carl Kapp, the theme for the hair was "a little bit ballerina but with a modern futuristic edge," according to hair director Jon Pulitano of Headcase Hair in Sydney. The bun had a sleek finish and a two-directional thing going on to create a linear fringe. Jon felt that Carl Kapp's elegant evening gowns needed that juxtaposition to avoid looking too red carpet-y and more Fashion Week. It was paired with a makeup look which Napoleon Perdis called "understated, yet unpredictable." There was a veil-like nod to Cleopatra, but only ever so slightly - the makeup maestro stipulated that the liner be kept thin and close to the lash line with just a hint of a flick. The highlight for us was the beautiful wash of bronzed gold on the inner eye socket.
