She wowed the judges with her skills on the dance floor, coming second only to chef and My Kitchen Rules judge Manu, but it was Lara Bingle's beauty look that caught our eye on Dancing With the Stars last night. Managing to avoid the potential pitfalls that can go hand-in-hand with the genre of the show - think too-tan tans, super-spidery lash lines and the like - Lara looked gorgeous as she took to the floor to perform the Viennese Waltz. We spoke to Max May, her bestie and makeup artist, who was behind her "glamorous and movie star-ish" look.
He told us that he wanted Lara to look as "modern as possible," in keeping with her usual effortless style. As Max says, "Her style of hair and makeup is so heavily recognised, it's important to keep that feeling and personality there." This meant Max "rough-dried Lara’s hair using bumble and bumble thickening spray ($50)," then tongued it, using L’Oreal Elnett hairspray ($9.95) to hold the wave. After Lara's hair cooled, Max backcombed it to add some texture and volume, before brushing it out, finishing up with Wella Ocean Sprizz sea salt spray ($23.50) "to give a worn, slightly slept-in look."
