
If you've seen any ads for the hotly-anticipated sequel to The Hangover, then chances are you've seen Stu (Ed Helms' character) wake up in a bathtub with a Mike Tyson-esque tattoo on his face. It's the boys up to their old antics - but not everybody's laughing. In fact Victor Whitmill is so unimpressed that he's taking The Hangover Part II and its production company, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., to court.
So what exactly is Whitmill's beef? Well he was the artist that created Mike Tyson's tribal tattoo and claims that the former heavyweight champion granted him ownership of the design and "thus copyright," which he feels Warner Bros. has breached. Yesterday there was a four-hour federal court meeting on the matter, which, if granted in Whitmill's favour will create a major headache for Warner Bros. who has spent approximately US$80 million marketing the movie, featuring the tattoo shot in several ads.
